Ski vacation

in Ratschings

Because of its geographically advantageous location, the Ratschings valley is one of the most snowsure in the whole of South Tyrol. All winter sports that a winter tourist likes, can be reached within a few kilometers. Ski tourists get their money’s worth in the ski resort Ratschings. Cross-country skiers enjoy the 15 km long ski track in the biathletic center of Ridnaun. Friends of snowshoeing and ski tourers have endless possibilities to explore the South Tyrolian mountains. Moreover, from the landscape aspect Mareit is simply beautiful when it is all covered in white snow. You never tire of looking at it.

Winter & Schneeschuhwandern

Winter & Snow shoe excursions

Going with the snowshoes becomes more and more popular: the beautiful paths, that in summer can be walked on with your mountain boots, in winter can be explored with the snowshoes. The special aspect about walking with snowshoes is that you are far away from the big skiing area, and you can enjoy the nature and its calmness and power with every breath. For those who prefer to have two skis under their feet and want to experience a zappy downhill run, finds many possibilities in the Ratschings valley, the Ridnaun valley and other side valleys of our region. Moreover, you can find runs for every level: beginners as well as the ambitioned ski tourer, who can handle higher mountain paths, will find ideal conditions to enjoy their hobby.

Other winter sports activities

in Ridnauntal

The Wipptal region is a cross-country skiing paradise. In many parts of the region, such as Ridnaun, Pfitsch and Ratschings you will find fantastic cross-country ski tracks. The biathlon center in Ridnaun – where also the IBU cup takes place, takes on a special role. In only 5 kilometers distance you can find this breathtaking cross-country ski area with 15 kilometers of ski tracks.
In the Wipptal region – Sterzing with all its side valleys – there are 11 sledge runs in total. So sledge fans get their money’s worth. On some days, some sledge runs are open also in the evenings – among others, the sledge run Rosskopf, which is the longest sledge run in South Tyrol. Sledges can be rented at all ski rentals. Four our guest from the Huberhof we have different bobs and sledges for kids that they can use around the house. It is a pleasure to watch the kids having fun in front of the house and in the meadows with the bobs!

Ice-skating is becoming more and more popular. There is an ice-skating ground in mostly every village – so is in our village Mareit. Moreover, Mareit is THE meeting point for fans of the ice stock sport. Offered by the tourist office you can join one of the evening meetings where you can try and learn about this sport and end a nice winter’s day in good company and with a lot of fun.
